Drink Photography Tips
When taking a drink photo, the best way to set the shot is with the light behind the glass. For a bright effect, aim to place the light in the shadow side of the glass. This will make the glass appear to be floating in the water, rather than sitting on top of it.
If the glass has a pattern on it, make sure to include this in the shot. Try adding some patterned ice cubes or a coloured straw, if you have any.
When you’re photographing a cocktail, it’s often best to shoot from the side. This allows for the best view of the cocktail and ice.
To get the most out of the shot, you should also keep the background clean. If it’s a white wall, for example, you shouldn’t use a yellow drink.
It’s also helpful to think about what the image you are creating will look like once printed. The best idea is to make it as dramatic as possible. Try to play around with different shots to get the best one.
Remember, though, that you want the drink to be the focal point.
You can also take a drink shot with an empty glass. It’s easier to control the lighting and it doesn’t need props. However, it’s important to make sure the light is in front of the glass so that the whole drink can be seen.
Simply fill the glass with ice, add a bit of alcohol and then stick a straw in it. You can use it to make a drink photo that looks really cool.
Have fun experimenting with your new skills and enjoy capturing all the unique moments you’ll be able to capture with your drink photos.
