Umbrella photography tips
You need to do a little bit of homework before you get going with your photography. The first thing you should think about is light – where the sun is coming from, and where the shadows are falling. Take the opportunity to walk around with your camera, snapping away and seeing how the shadows fall and move across your subject. This is a good way to get the feel for what light is doing to your image. The second thing you need to think about is angle and position. Where is the camera pointing? Is it level with your subject? Is the subject standing in front of a dark background, and is there space behind them for light to fall on their head and face? A lot of this comes down to instinct, but you can use it to develop your photography. When you’re ready, you should go out into the world and just experiment. Try different angles and different light. Find a new location and snap away.
