How Do You Resize an Image?

Resize an image

This is often needed as a background for a site. The following steps will guide you through resizing an image using your computer.

  1. Go to File > Save As and save the image to your hard drive.
  2. Open the saved file in Paint Shop Pro.
  3. Select Image > Resize Image
  4. Click on the Resize tab.
  5. Use the arrows at the bottom left of the window to select the size you would like to resize to.
  6. Click on the “Apply” button to resize the image.

Using Photoshop

First, you need to find out how much space there is in the image. To do this, open the image in Photoshop, press Ctrl/Cmd + C to copy it to the clipboard. Then press Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste it into a new file. The image will now be larger than the original, so if you want to resize it, click on the “Layers” tab on the top of the screen and go to “Flatten Image”. This will mean that you lose the layers, but it will allow you to resize the image easily. If you don’t flatten the image, you will need to use the “Image Size” command to resize it manually.

1. Choose Image > Image Size.

2. Click on the “Width” and “Height” boxes to move the crop handles. (The crop handles are two boxes around the outside of the image which act as guides.)

3. Click on the center handle until it lines up with the middle of the image. This is your new size. You can then click on the “Fit” button to resize the rest of the image automatically.

4. Click on the “Align” drop down menu and choose “Center” or “Stretch to Fit”.

5. When you are happy with the final image, click OK and the image will now be resized.

6. Now you can add text to the image.

7. Finally, you can apply a layer style.

8. The last step is to save your work. Click on the “File” menu and choose “Save As”. Name the file and choose where you want to save it. Click “Save”.
